The thing about books

Finding a good book is almost like falling in love with the right person.

Like soul mates, not all books are destined to be read by us. Like soul mates, certain people are attracted to certain type of books.

Books are my companion. The quest for an engaging book almost feels like finding a good friend. You don't just stare at a book for seconds and rush to the counter to purchase it. You judge it by its cover, just like how you judge a new stranger that has just stepped into your life. You read the synopsis at the back of the book briefly, just how like you try to read a stranger's postures and silent body language. And then you start smelling the new pages of the book, just like how you try to pluck a stranger's scent. A good book always smells right and the right person always smells friendly too. When you know that this particular book engages you, even though you have only come across it for less than half an hour, you will start to flip through the pages. You take a closer look at the cover, to make sure and recheck the title. Just like you are dying to find out someone's name, his full name even, especially if you had a kind of curiosity like the cat's. And then you suddenly notice how the praises are given to this spectacular piece of writing. Just like how your ears are very sensitive in catching comments about this particular person. You dig deeper into this book, you have reached to the very first page where everything begins. The first two lines of the story struck you to awe. How can a human being writes and produces something so beautifully? How can this stranger acts spontaneously like some old good friend? How can this stranger thinks the same way like I do?

And then you'll find yourself saying, "that's it. This is the book I want."
And then you'll find yourself saying, "that's it. This is the person I want."

A good book will keep you thrilled and curious along the journey. Just like how your partner keeps you flying all the time.
There will be suspense, terror, prejudice, excitement, expectation, happiness in every story portrayed in a novel. Just like how a relationship is actually a very long roller coaster ride.

At some chapters you will cry, just like how a relationship works - we don't laugh and smile all the time, sometimes we cry.

A book is just like a partner, a companion.
A book is for people who are hard working and dedicated, just like a relationship is meant for committed people. Reading a book requires a constant commitment, just like invoulving yourself in a relationship.

A book, all books - they somehow have this part called 'ending'. They somehow need to end. That's just how it works. Nothing really lasts forever. A book, like a relationship, after some times, it ends.

But a good book will always haunt your mind, just like how a good person occupies your mind. Even though you are no longer reading the book, a good book no matter what leaves traces in your soul. Just like how a person can leave scars in your heart.
