My younger sister has always been smarter than me. Okay, not always but lately. Lately my younger sister has been smarter than me. You know, score good grades at school? I'm not kidding. She scores almost solid As for everything. And the sad part is that, I used to be the smartest daughter in the family, not anymore though. Sis is currently studying in a boarding school and at first I jumped into a narrow conclusion, 'alah budak asrama, biasalah, kerjanya belajar je'
The thing is, circumstances are never to be blame in order to achieve something. My mid year exam result has shown how I neglected my studies and to be in the average level isn't something you want to labeled as with when you know you can do better. I know I can do better. I just didn't work for it.
I did some observations on how my sister suddenly excels in her studies :
1. She never fails to pray 5 times a day. Whenever we're going out or doing our shopping, she'll be the one who has the most urge to perfome the prayer in the Surau provided. Ayah once said, "Muslim Malaysians are lucky to have conducive facilities around 'em, but it's such a shame that very little could carry and perform their responsibilities". Hm. I'm quite sure I'm one of those irresponsible group. I mean really, it would be a lie if I said, "Oh yes, I do pray whenever I'm outside, I pray all the time". I'm a human, I have flaws. And apparently, this, is one of my flaws.
2. She likes to do extra, good, rewarding stuff. She recites Surah Yaasin, very regularly, even when she's home. I don't know what other stuff she does at her school, but the school does bring good influence to her. She's into religion things now. I, sometimes, do feel ashamed of her to know that my religious knowledge is not as good as hers.
3. Okay besides communicating very often with Allah, she also studies all the time. I'm serious. Even when she's on Facebook, there'll be a few other tabs of educational webs. Sometimes I'll come across her doing e-homework on her school web too. She spends very less of her time on watching TV. When she gets home, she'll straight away doing her homework. At nights I'll find her memorizing things, probably for reading subjects. I wonder if in her school, they have some sort of planner of what to do on what day/time. Or maybe they're brainwashed and trained to be --
4. She reads all the time. She loves her reference books. She finds The Lazy Song is not relevant at all, and she told me the video is not funny at all ._. (it IS funny! apa lah) She doesn't like MTV. Not that I say I like MTV that much, but MTV is kinda my 3rd choice after Phineas & Ferb on Disney Channel and Masterchef Australia or other cooking series on TV. At times she'll ask, "Kak Ja, ada buku best tak nak dibaca?". I'd say takde. Sebab my books are inappropriate for her to read. She might get shocked and slipped into coma. LOL
She does good things.
I always have this thing like 'eleh sekolah asrama, bajet je lebih' on boarding school students, but I can't deny deep inside I know I'm admiring them. I mean Harry Potter studied in a boarding school too, kan?
Okay, I'm off to bed now. Good bye :)
