Wot's happening?

Today I met our guy best friend, Ashman. Back then when we were in lower form, me, Azalea, Ashman & Faris had always been this set of cool nerd kids :) The boys are brilliant, especially Faris. And now they are studying in different boarding schools, leaving me and Azalea behind :(

It was when I was in Form 4 that I started to get closer with the other girls - Thanu & Sashi, even tough we knew each other since we were in primary. There's a saying goes, a good friend was once a stranger. I am very thankful to have such vivacious, true best friends like Azalea, Thanuja, Sashini and not to forget the cool guy friends like Faris and Ashman. Allah bless me with these kind of simplicity - a pure friendship, a beautiful family, an average yet not so bad looks, a nice place to live and grow up in and, a functional brain that could do me big time for my SPM. hm

Today my adik had this majlis tadarus Al-Quran at her school, and as usual, the school allowed them to wear festive outfits (baju kurung raya :p)

When she came back home, she told me that her friends were making jokes about how not so pretty looking she was, just because she wore an ordinary veil to cover her hair. She was wearing my mother's tudung bawal. On the other hand, all of her friends seemed to admire their shawls and pashminas. My adik was feeling kind of down, because of this tudung matter.

My adik is a very cute little 12-year-old. No, I'm not exxegerating. She is in fact, a lot cuter than the rest. Maybe that's why they acted so bitcy - they are intimidated. I really have to say this - just because she had an unfashionable, outdated tudung on, doesn't mean anyone can mock her, saying she doesn't look as hip, as trendy as others.

I mean, kids, wearing hijab is not about showing to your friends how pretty you look in that pashmina/shawls/other kind of hijab that hijab hipsters put on nowadays. It is simply about covering your head and preserving your dignity. You wear hijab because of Allah. Because He said so. Because He knows exactly how excited boys are to see our beautiful, well-shaped complexion. Not because of imitating some pretty, cute, fair, attractive, hipped, updated, trendy pashmina girls that you saw in the net lately.

You have to understand the real concept of wearing hijab, adik-adik. Maybe when you're older, you'll understand.

  3. Omg, they are so dumb if they think that way. I also got few friends who ask me sometimes when I was wearing "tudung bawal" :- Ehh, why you don't wear selendang like u used to.

I can wear anything as long as it is cover right?
